Pueblo, CO – The National Weather Service in Pueblo reports that the first widespread freeze of the season is underway this morning, Sunday, October 19, across southern and eastern Colorado, with temperatures dipping into the 20s and low 30s.
According to the National Weather Service, a Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory remain in effect through 9 a.m. for much of the region, including Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, and Springfield. Temperatures as low as 21°F in Alamosa and mid-20s across the Arkansas Valley are expected before sunrise.
The agency warns that outdoor plants and unprotected plumbing may be damaged or killed by the freezing conditions. Residents are urged to cover or bring sensitive vegetation indoors, drain outdoor hoses, and protect pipes from potential frost damage.
This marks the first major freeze event of the season for Colorado’s plains, signaling the likely end of the local growing season. Skies will clear later today, with sunshine returning and highs climbing into the 50s and 60s.
