Pueblo, CO – Dry and windy conditions on Sunday are expected to create critical fire weather conditions across parts of Colorado, particularly along the I-25 corridor. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo has issued a Fire Weather Watch, urging residents to stay alert and avoid activities that could spark fires.
According to the NWS, gusty north winds combined with relative humidity as low as 10% will significantly increase fire danger across the plains. Additional dry conditions may extend fire risks further east along Highway 50. The watch will remain in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday evening.
Residents are advised to take precautions, such as securing outdoor equipment, avoiding open flames, and monitoring local fire restrictions. Authorities stress that any fires that start could spread rapidly due to the low humidity and strong winds.
