Pueblo, CO – Residents across central and southern Colorado should prepare for rising wildfire danger as warm, dry conditions settle into the region early this week. From Pueblo to the San Luis Valley, increasing temperatures and declining humidity levels are raising concerns.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, light snow showers may persist through midnight Saturday over higher southern mountain peaks, but the primary concern shifts to fire risk beginning Sunday. Patchy to dense fog is also expected overnight into Sunday morning, especially in the San Luis Valley.

By midweek, daytime highs are forecast to climb well above seasonal averages. Pueblo will reach the upper 70s by Wednesday, with Tuesday’s high nearing 77°F. Winds will shift from the west and northwest, further drying the area and elevating the potential for rapid fire spread.

Communities across Fremont, Chaffee, Alamosa, and El Paso counties should stay alert. Areas at or below 7,500 feet—including Colorado Springs, La Junta, and Canon City—may experience the most significant fire weather conditions.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure sparks from equipment, and monitor updates from local fire agencies. Weather spotters are not needed Saturday night, but conditions may change as the week progresses.
