Denver, Colorado – Fire danger remains high across Colorado’s eastern plains through Tuesday night as unseasonably warm temperatures and dry conditions persist, raising the risk of rapid wildfire spread.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, elevated fire weather conditions will continue mainly over the plains through late Tuesday, with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s across much of the Front Range and eastern Colorado. Cities including Fort Morgan, Sterling, and Greeley are expected to see the highest fire potential. Meanwhile, the mountains could experience isolated showers and storms each afternoon, particularly today.

By Wednesday, a cooler air mass will move into the state, bringing a drop in temperatures—especially in cities like Boulder, Denver, and Castle Rock—where highs will dip into the 60s. This midweek cooldown will be accompanied by a slight increase in afternoon storm chances across the high country and adjacent foothills.

Residents in fire-prone areas are urged to avoid any outdoor burning and secure trailer chains or other heat-producing equipment. Prepare for changing weather by checking fire restrictions and staying alert to local emergency updates.

Cooler temperatures and weak showers are expected to linger through the end of the week, with additional updates likely as conditions evolve.
