Pueblo, Colorado – Warm, dry conditions are settling in across southern Colorado today, but increasing winds and an incoming storm pattern will quickly shift the weather by late week.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s Wednesday across the I-25 corridor, including Pueblo and Colorado Springs, with only isolated high-based showers developing over the mountains this afternoon.

Conditions begin to change Thursday as storm chances increase across the region, with additional disturbances bringing more widespread showers and thunderstorms into early next week. Cities along I-25 and eastern plains communities such as La Junta and Lamar could see multiple rounds of storms.

The biggest concern turns to fire weather by Sunday, when stronger winds combined with dry conditions may elevate fire danger across southern Colorado. Areas near the mountains and open plains will be most vulnerable.

Residents should use caution with outdoor activities that could spark fires and stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions later this week.

Warm temperatures continue through the period, but increasing storm coverage and fire risk will drive impacts into early next week, with additional advisories possible.
