Pueblo, CO – Warm temperatures and gusty winds will bring an increased fire risk to southeast Colorado this weekend, with a Fire Weather Watch in effect for Saturday afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, low relative humidity levels—dropping as low as 11%—combined with west winds of 15 to 30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph will create hazardous fire conditions. The affected areas include the southeast plains, where dry fuels and strong winds could contribute to rapid fire spread.

Meanwhile, weekend weather across Colorado will be mostly sunny with varying temperatures based on elevation. The plains will experience highs between 63-74°F on Saturday before cooling slightly to 54-61°F on Sunday. The mountain valleys will see highs in the mid-50s, while mountain regions will range from 30-55°F.

Though no precipitation is expected, Saturday’s forecast for the mountains includes patchy blowing snow, which could reduce visibility to less than a quarter mile in some areas.

Residents in fire-prone areas are urged to avoid outdoor burning and be cautious with ignition sources. Authorities advise staying updated with local alerts and preparing for rapidly changing conditions.
