Denver, Colo. – Sunshine will dominate much of Colorado this weekend, but commuters should prepare for a shift by Monday evening. Drivers along I-25 and I-70 could face slick travel as a chance of thunderstorms develops late Monday, September 22.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver will warm into the low to mid-80s through Sunday with dry skies. Winds remain light, keeping conditions pleasant for outdoor events. That calm weather ends Monday when a weak front brings cooler air and a slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms by late afternoon.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 82, followed by Sunday’s peak warmth near 84 under clear skies. Residents planning mountain travel should take advantage of the dry stretch, as storm chances increase east of the Rockies by Monday. Gusty winds could briefly reduce visibility on high mountain passes and urban roads alike.

Nighttime lows remain comfortable in the mid-50s through the weekend, dipping closer to the upper 40s Monday night once the front passes. While storms are not expected to be severe, lightning and slick roads may affect evening travel. Officials advise allowing extra time for commutes and checking road conditions before heading out.

The storm threat clears quickly, leaving Denver cooler and sunny again Tuesday with highs in the mid-70s.

Warnings remain possible if storm coverage increases, so residents should stay alert for updates.
