DENVER, Colo. – Colorado drivers may face slick commutes and flight delays Tuesday as thunderstorms build across Denver and the Front Range. The most significant impact could strike in the late afternoon and evening, especially along I-25 and I-70, where heavy rain and gusty winds may slow travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, storms will form after 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, across northern Colorado. Gusts near 30 mph and pockets of small hail remain possible, particularly over the northeast plains and higher terrain. Motorists should plan extra travel time and avoid flooded intersections.

Showers and storms will taper by late Tuesday night, but unsettled weather continues into Wednesday. A second round of rain and thunderstorms could again affect metro Denver and surrounding counties, keeping roads slick and delaying outdoor work or school activities. Winds will ease overnight, but conditions remain breezy.

By Thursday, drier weather briefly returns with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s. However, another system may trigger isolated storms on Friday and Saturday, marking an unsettled start to the weekend.

Residents should charge devices, secure outdoor furniture, and monitor local alerts. NWS says additional advisories may follow if stronger storms develop.
