Denver, Colorado – Colorado’s Front Range is under a dangerous triple threat this week as extreme heat, fire danger, and poor air quality converge through Thursday night, prompting urgent warnings from state and federal agencies.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a Heat Advisory remains in effect through 7 p.m. Thursday for cities including Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and the western suburbs. Temperatures are expected to reach near 100°F again today, with dry air, low humidity, and gusty winds creating critical fire weather conditions. A Red Flag Warning is active until 8 p.m. Wednesday for the northeastern foothills and high plains.

Smoke from regional fires and stagnant air is also triggering an Air Quality Alert across the Denver metro, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer, and Weld Counties. Sensitive groups—including children, seniors, and those with respiratory conditions—should avoid prolonged outdoor exposure.

Residents are urged to stay indoors, hydrate frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors. If using air conditioning, set it to recirculate to reduce indoor pollution levels. Outdoor burns, fireworks, and heavy machinery use should be postponed until fire conditions improve.

Fire weather conditions may ease slightly this weekend as cooler air arrives, but hot, dry conditions are expected to persist into early next week.
