Pueblo, CO – A cool and cloudy Monday is ahead for much of southern Colorado, with temperatures dipping 15 to 20 degrees below seasonal averages across the plains, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

Cloud cover is expected to linger through most of the day, particularly in the far eastern plains, while the San Luis Valley will see sunshine and gusty south winds this afternoon. Highs in the region are forecast to reach near 70°F, making it the warmest spot on the map.

Across the central and eastern plains, highs will range from the upper 40s to low 60s, with Pueblo near 56°F, Lamar at 59°F, and Colorado Springs around 50°F. The cooler conditions stem from upslope flow keeping skies gray and temperatures suppressed.

According to forecasters, showers and isolated weak thunderstorms could develop late this afternoon into the evening for the southeast mountains and plains, including areas near Trinidad, Springfield, and La Junta.

Meanwhile, elevated fire weather concerns remain for the San Luis Valley due to dry air and gusty winds, though temperatures there will stay near normal.

Motorists and outdoor workers are advised to prepare for cooler, breezy conditions and possible light rain late in the day.
