Colorado – A sharp chill grips Colorado Springs early, with damp pavement and a raw breeze making it feel colder than readings suggest. Drivers step out to brisk air, and shaded roads may still hold slick spots from earlier moisture.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, isolated light showers and even a brief rain-snow mix are possible early, especially near higher terrain . Any moisture remains light, but temperatures hovering near freezing raise the risk of patchy icy spots.

Across El Paso County, including I-25 and Highway 24, early travel may feel uneven. Bridges and overpasses cool fastest, so watch for quick slick patches. This is prime time for flash-freeze conditions as surfaces warm and refreeze in shaded areas.

By midday, skies brighten and temperatures climb into the mid-40s, improving travel conditions. The bigger shift comes quickly after. A strong warm-up pushes highs into the upper 70s by Saturday and Sunday, bringing a spring-like feel across the Front Range.

That warmth comes with a tradeoff. Gusty winds and very dry air will elevate fire danger across southern Colorado by Saturday afternoon. Avoid outdoor burning and secure loose items as winds pick up.

Looking ahead to Monday, temperatures stay mild in the mid-70s with increasing clouds. A more active pattern develops into Tuesday and Wednesday, with better chances for showers and even mountain snow returning.
