Denver, Colorado – A rapid warmup is underway across eastern Colorado, with temperatures surging toward the 90-degree mark by Wednesday and fire danger expanding across the Front Range within the next 48 hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver and Boulder, highs will climb from the upper 60s and low 70s Monday to near 85 degrees Tuesday, before peaking between 83 and 91 degrees Wednesday across the urban corridor, including Denver, Aurora, and Fort Collins. These readings could approach or break daily records for late March.

Dry air and increasing winds will elevate fire weather concerns starting Tuesday across lower elevations, with the threat expanding into foothills and mountain valleys by Wednesday. Officials warn that dry grasses and warm temperatures could allow fires to spread quickly if ignited.

A few light showers remain possible in the mountains Monday afternoon and evening, but most areas along I-25 will stay dry through midweek. That lack of moisture will further contribute to critical fire conditions.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and use caution with equipment that may spark. The heat and fire risk will peak Wednesday before any cooling trend begins later in the week.

Additional fire weather alerts are likely as conditions intensify.
