Grand Junction, Colorado – Dangerous heat continues to grip western Colorado, with afternoon highs soaring into the upper 90s and low 100s across Grand Junction, Montrose, and nearby communities through at least Wednesday. Residents should prepare for prolonged hot, dry conditions that could threaten health, stress power grids, and impact daily routines.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, temperatures will reach 100°F in Grand Junction and Moab on Tuesday, with Montrose, Delta, and Rifle close behind in the upper 90s. Overnight lows will remain uncomfortably warm, giving little relief after sunset. Rainfall will be sparse, with only isolated mountain storms expected over the next few days.

Heat advisories are in effect for Mesa, Delta, Montrose, and surrounding counties. Drivers should avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles, and anyone working outdoors is urged to take frequent breaks, hydrate, and wear lightweight, light-colored clothing. Seniors and those with medical conditions are especially vulnerable during prolonged hot spells.

The ongoing heatwave marks one of the hottest starts to July in recent years for western Colorado. Area hospitals and emergency services are preparing for increased calls related to heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Dangerous temperatures are forecast to last through Wednesday, with more advisories possible if the hot, dry pattern continues. Stay tuned to local alerts for any changes.
