Grand Junction, CO – High winds sweeping across northwest Colorado and eastern Utah are prompting urgent travel advisories and safety warnings through Tuesday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. MDT Tuesday. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph will become widespread, with localized gusts reaching up to 55 mph. The advisory primarily impacts roadways like I-70, US-40, and US-160, raising risks for crosswinds and falling limbs.
Travelers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should exercise caution on east-west highways. The advisory covers key areas including Moab, Grand Junction, Rifle, and Meeker, where elevated wind speeds may also disrupt outdoor activities and unsecured property.
