Grand Junction, CO – Showers and thunderstorms will continue across western Colorado today, with activity expected to intensify this afternoon and evening. The unsettled weather will persist overnight and into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.

Forecasters report that the region could see heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail under stronger storm cells. Lightning will also be a hazard throughout the day. Storm chances are widespread, with probabilities ranging from 50% to more than 80% across many communities including Grand Junction, Montrose, Rifle, and Steamboat Springs.

According to the weather service, storm coverage will increase late Monday, potentially leading to localized flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas. Drivers are urged to use caution as sudden downpours could reduce visibility and create slick conditions on roads.

The unsettled pattern is expected to linger into Tuesday, with additional showers and thunderstorms possible. Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and prepare for changing conditions, especially if traveling through mountain passes where weather can shift quickly.
