Pueblo, Colorado – A round of spring thunderstorms could bring hail, damaging winds, and even an isolated tornado across southeastern Colorado through Sunday, with marginal risk stretching across the Plains.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, storms on Saturday and Sunday may produce hail up to 1 inch in diameter and wind gusts topping 60 mph. The threat includes cities like Pueblo, La Junta, Trinidad, and Lamar, with today’s activity carrying a limited chance of tornadoes.
Communities from Walsenburg to Springfield should prepare for strong afternoon and evening storms both days. Power outages and tree damage are possible in localized areas due to gusty winds. Drivers on U.S. Highways 50 and 287 may encounter reduced visibility or slick roads if hail accumulates.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, charge electronic devices, and remain weather-aware—especially during peak storm hours between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday.
This weekend marks the first multi-day severe threat of the season in parts of southern Colorado. Additional updates and watches could be issued if storm conditions escalate.
