Pueblo, Colorado – Afternoon storms are set to flare up again Saturday across southern Colorado, bringing threats of hail, lightning, and locally heavy rainfall near the mountains and I-25 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, high temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s across much of the region, fueling scattered thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The strongest storms are expected to develop over the mountains and move southeast toward cities like Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Walsenburg.
Wind gusts could exceed 50 mph in some areas, with isolated hail ranging from pea-size to half an inch. Lightning will also pose a threat to outdoor activities, especially in the late afternoon and early evening. Drivers along I-25 should watch for sudden downpours and reduced visibility.
Storm patterns are expected to repeat daily through the weekend. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid hiking during storm windows, and monitor weather alerts closely.
Storm chances remain in place through Sunday, with the potential for additional watches or warnings as systems strengthen each afternoon.
