Colorado Springs, Colo. – Breezy, warm air will give way to isolated thunderstorms across southern Colorado Saturday afternoon, bringing the potential for gusty winds up to 40 mph and brief downpours west of the Continental Divide. The National Weather Service in Pueblo warns that storms could expand east along the I-25 corridor into the evening, producing small hail and dangerous lightning.

According to the agency, the main threat includes heavy rainfall, small hail, and gusts up to 60 mph through Saturday evening, especially near Colorado Springs, Canon City, and Teller County. Light snow may also develop over higher peaks above 10,000 feet, with up to three inches possible along the Continental Divide.

Temperatures will stay near seasonal levels through Sunday before cooler air pushes in late Saturday night, dropping overnight lows into the 40s for much of El Paso and Fremont counties. Drivers are urged to use caution on mountain roads and delay high-elevation travel during active storms.

At or below-normal temperatures will linger with scattered showers into midweek, while drier conditions return by Thursday.
