Colorado Springs, Colo. – Thunderstorms could interrupt the scorching summer heat across Colorado Springs by late Monday, with a rising risk of showers and lightning through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are forecast to climb to 94°F Monday, with a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms developing after noon. That risk increases to 40 percent Tuesday and 50 percent by Tuesday night, especially across El Paso and Teller Counties. Winds will remain light, shifting from southeast to west throughout the week.

Localized storms may impact travel on I-25 and Highway 24, particularly during afternoon commute hours. While most storms are expected to be brief, gusty winds and lightning are possible. Drivers are urged to stay alert for slick roads and sudden downpours.

Sunday will stay dry and hot, reaching 93°F under sunny skies. However, the pattern shifts Monday night through Wednesday, with nightly lows around 60°F and continued storm chances. Power outages and minor flash flooding are possible in areas with repeat showers.

Thunderstorm activity may taper off by Thursday, but isolated showers remain possible into Friday afternoon.

More updates will be issued as storm chances increase. Residents should monitor alerts and secure outdoor items ahead of Tuesday.
