Colorado Springs, CO – Strong winds and rising temperatures will grip southern Colorado on Tuesday, bringing increased fire weather conditions and a sharp midweek shift toward more unsettled weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph — with gusts as high as 35 mph — will impact the Colorado Springs area Tuesday, especially from mid-morning through the afternoon. While recent rainfall has reduced wildfire risk overall, dry surface fuels and breezy conditions may create isolated fire danger across Fremont, Teller, and El Paso counties. Residents near Monument Ridge and the Rampart Range should avoid any open burning.

Wednesday brings more gusty winds and highs near 72°F. By Thursday and Friday, small hail and thunderstorms could return to the region, especially in the Central Mountains and along I-25, where outflow winds could impact afternoon travel.

Day-by-day weather snapshot:

  • Tuesday [Spring]: Mostly sunny, 82°F, breezy southwest winds

  • Thursday: Isolated afternoon storms, 68°F, slight hail risk
  • Friday: Continued storm chance, 73°F, mostly sunny early
