PUEBLO, Colo. – Breezy winds and scattered thunderstorms will make for an unsettled start to the weekend across southern and central Colorado, with a notable cool-down to follow by Sunday. The National Weather Service in Pueblo warns of gusty outflow winds up to 60 mph and small hail in stronger storms Saturday afternoon and evening, especially west of the I-25 corridor.

According to the NWS, moisture moving in from the southwest will combine with daytime heating to spark thunderstorms across the San Luis Valley, Wet Mountains, and Continental Divide. Some higher peaks above 10,000 feet could see light snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches by late Saturday night. Breezy southwest winds will also elevate fire concerns over the far southeast plains before cooler air moves in.

Residents in Alamosa, Walsenburg, and Pueblo should expect temperatures to dip sharply Saturday night into early Sunday, with patchy frost possible in low-lying valleys. Drivers are advised to watch for sudden visibility drops in heavy downpours and gusty winds.

Cooler, below-normal temperatures will settle in through midweek, with more scattered showers possible by Tuesday as another weak system approaches from the west.
