At the airport, temperatures hover near 30 degrees with wind chills in the teens. Blowing debris and sudden crosswinds are creating difficult travel along I-25 and Highway 24. High-profile vehicles will feel the strongest push. Widespread power outages are possible in exposed areas.
By midday, sunshine dominates with a high near 41. Winds gradually ease but remain breezy. A Red Flag Warning is also posted through early evening due to dry air and gusty conditions. Avoid outdoor burning or activities that could spark a fire.
Tonight turns sharply colder with a low near 13 under partly cloudy skies.
Snow chances increase Friday. Snow showers become likely after late morning with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. Accumulations in the city stay light, generally under one inch. Higher terrain west of town could see more. Roads may turn slick by afternoon, especially if bursts of snow reduce visibility.
Friday night clears with a low near 12. The weekend improves. Saturday climbs to 46 under sunny skies. Sunday reaches 48 with mostly sunny conditions.
Early next week brings a noticeable warmup. Highs surge to around 60 Monday and mid-60s Tuesday, hinting at early spring warmth returning to southern Colorado.
