COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Gray skies stretch over Pikes Peak as a chill builds across the Front Range this morning. The stillness in the air feels temporary — the calm before Colorado’s next quick burst of winter weather.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo reports that a Pacific system will move through Sunday into Sunday night, bringing rain and snow across much of central and southern Colorado. For Colorado Springs, light rain will develop by midday Sunday and may briefly mix with wet snow after sunset, especially north and west of the city. Drivers along I-25 should plan for possible slick spots and reduced visibility late Sunday as colder air filters in.
Mountain areas could see 3 to 6 inches of snow, especially across the San Juan Mountains, while lighter totals are likely along the Palmer Divide. Monday turns sunny but cool, with highs in the mid-50s, before a noticeable cold snap settles in Tuesday.
Looking ahead, Thanksgiving week brings a break in active weather. Highs will rise into the upper 50s by Thursday under clear, calm skies, making it ideal for travel and outdoor gatherings. However, forecasters are watching a new storm system expected to form over the West late next weekend — one that could bring heavy snow to parts of the Rockies and Midwest between November 25th and December 3rd.
