Colorado Springs, CO – A blanket of dense fog has settled over the city this morning, shrouding headlights in a gray haze and turning streets slick as temperatures sit near 24°F. Drivers from Monument Hill to downtown are urged to slow down and use headlights, as visibility has dropped to less than a quarter mile in parts of El Paso County.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m., with freezing fog reported around the Peterson Space Force Base and the I-25 corridor. Early commuters can expect icy spots and reduced visibility through sunrise before gradual clearing begins.

Once the fog lifts, the day brightens with partly sunny skies and a high near 38°F. Winds remain light, and drier air moves in through the afternoon. Temperatures rebound slightly into the mid-40s by Saturday, offering a calmer stretch for weekend travel. Still, with morning lows dipping into the teens and low 20s, black ice will remain a continued risk through dawn each day.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook also notes snow may return to Colorado’s central mountains late Friday into Sunday, but for now, Colorado Springs stays cold and dry under mostly clear skies.

Five-Day Outlook (Colorado Springs Metro):

  • Friday: Increasing clouds, high 42°F, low 20°F.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high 46°F.
  • Sunday: Sunny, high 43°F.
