Pueblo, Colorado – A warming and drying trend is settling across southern Colorado through the weekend, bringing improved travel conditions and springlike temperatures along major corridors including Interstate 25 and US-50.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, high pressure will dominate the region through Saturday, keeping skies mostly sunny and precipitation chances at 0%. Across the plains, daytime highs are expected to reach the low to mid-60s Thursday and Friday, rising into the upper 60s to low 70s by Saturday. Overnight lows will remain cool, generally in the upper 20s to mid-30s.
In the mountain valleys, highs will climb into the low to mid-50s, while nighttime temperatures fall into the teens and 20s. The mountains will see cooler daytime highs ranging from the upper 30s to mid-50s, but conditions will remain dry with mostly sunny skies.
The warming trend will be most noticeable for drivers along I-25 from Trinidad through Pueblo to Colorado Springs, where temperatures will steadily increase each afternoon. Dry roads are expected through the start of next week, reducing weather-related travel concerns for commuters and weekend travelers.
Forecasters note that while mornings will start chilly, rapid afternoon warming will create a large daily temperature swing, especially across open plains and valleys. Residents heading out early should dress for colder conditions, while those traveling later in the day can expect much milder weather.
By Saturday, some areas on the plains could see highs approaching 70 to 72 degrees, well above early-February averages. Mountain areas will remain seasonably cool but calm, with no significant wind or snowfall expected.
No hazardous weather is anticipated through the weekend, and the National Weather Service says confidence is high in the continued dry pattern.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the warmer conditions while staying updated on future forecasts, especially as weather patterns shift later next week.
