According to the National Weather Service, critical fire weather conditions will persist throughout the day, with the strongest winds impacting areas south of Highway 50. Residents should avoid open flames and secure outdoor objects. Spotty snow showers could develop in higher elevations this evening, but accumulations will be minor.
Looking ahead, temperatures will cool, with highs dropping to the 40s by Saturday. A chance of snow showers is forecast for Saturday night into Sunday morning. Winds will weaken slightly but remain gusty through Friday.
By early next week, a colder air mass could bring more widespread snow to the region. Drivers should remain alert for changing road conditions, especially in mountain areas.
