Colorado residents should prepare for a volatile weather week as high winds, fire danger, and rain showers move into the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Monday and a High Wind Watch for Tuesday, bringing gusts up to 70 mph across Pueblo and surrounding counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, with southwest winds reaching 50 mph and humidity dropping as low as 11%. These conditions create a high risk of wildfires spreading rapidly. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and secure loose outdoor items.

By Tuesday, a High Wind Watch will take effect for Pueblo, El Paso, Otero, Huerfano, Las Animas, Bent, Prowers, and Baca counties. Winds will shift from the north, reaching 35-45 mph, with gusts possibly hitting 70 mph. The strongest winds will impact west-to-east roadways, making travel hazardous for high-profile vehicles. Power outages and downed trees are possible.

Midweek will bring cooler temperatures and a chance of rain and snow showers. Pueblo will see a high near 64°F Monday, dropping to 33°F overnight with rain and snow likely. By Tuesday, temperatures will peak at 60°F, with gusty conditionscontinuing. The remainder of the week features partly cloudy skies, highs in the 50s and 60s, and a slight chance of showers Thursday and Friday.

Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and exercise caution when traveling or engaging in outdoor activities.
