Grand Junction, CO – The first weekend of spring will bring a mix of warm, sunny conditions in Grand Junction before a late-weekend storm delivers snow to Colorado’s mountain regions. Residents can enjoy mild temperatures through Friday, but travelers heading to higher elevations should prepare for winter weather by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, Thursday will clear up by midday, reaching a high of 56°F. Friday will remain mostly sunny with a high near 57°F. Winds will stay light, making for a comfortable start to the season. However, a system arriving late Saturday could bring 4 to 10 inches of snow to the central and northern mountains, including the Park Range.

Saturday’s forecast for Grand Junction calls for mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance of showers and a high near 63°F. The storm will intensify in the mountains Saturday night into Sunday, possibly dumping more than a foot of snow in higher elevations.

Sunday will be mostly sunny in Grand Junction, with a high of 63°F, while mountain regions see lingering snow showers. By Monday, warm and dry conditions will return to the lower elevations, with highs reaching near 69°F.

Drivers heading into the mountains on I-70 or U.S. Highway 50 should check road conditions before traveling. The next storm system could cause delays and hazardous driving conditions.
