Pueblo, Colorado – A powerful spring storm will hammer southern Colorado’s mountains Saturday, delivering snow totals as high as 14 inches and snarling weekend travel on routes like U.S. 50 and I-25.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, heavy snow will move into the eastern San Juan and Sangre de Cristo mountains by midday Saturday. Roadways in the high country will likely become slick and snow-packed by afternoon. Drivers should avoid mountain travel where possible, especially near Wolf Creek Pass and Monarch Pass.

Lower elevations, including parts of the I-25 Corridor and Teller County, may see snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches, mostly on grassy areas. While Pueblo itself could escape the worst of the storm, a cold, wet Saturday is still expected. Winds will gust up to 20 mph by late afternoon, making outdoor plans less appealing.

By Sunday, the weather turns sharply — sunshine and a high near 60°F return, kicking off a stretch of spring warmth. Monday and Tuesday bring dry skies with highs climbing into the 70s, though a frost risk lingers Monday night when temperatures may dip to near 39°F.

⚠️ 5-Day Pueblo Forecast:

  • Saturday: High 42°F, snow showers before 4 p.m., then cloudy.
  • Sunday: Sunny, high 60°F.
  • Monday: Sunny, high 72°F.
  • Monday night: Low 39°F, frost possible.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 75°F.
