Colorado is set for a dramatic weather shift as high winds and critical fire conditions impact the region on Monday, followed by snow midweek. Residents in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and surrounding areas should prepare for rapidly changing conditions, as fire warnings and hazardous weather could affect travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service, a Red Flag Warning is in effect Sunday afternoon, with gusty winds and low humidity increasing the fire risk. A Fire Weather Watch remains in place Monday and Tuesday across the I-25 corridor, with wind gusts reaching up to 55 mph. Residents should avoid outdoor burning and secure loose objects.

By Tuesday afternoon, a strong cold front will move in, bringing rain and snow to higher elevations. Areas along the Palmer Divide, Raton Pass, and eastern El Paso County may see snow accumulation by early Wednesday morning. Wind-driven snow could create hazardous travel conditions, especially along I-25 and mountain passes.

Five-Day Colorado Forecast:

Monday: Warm and windy, high of 73°F with gusts up to 55 mph.

Tuesday: Rain in the afternoon, turning to snow overnight. High of 56°F, dropping to 20°F.

Wednesday: Snow likely in the morning, clearing by the afternoon. High of 44°F.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, high of 58°F.

Friday: Dry and mild, high of 55°F.

Spring officially begins Thursday, March 20, but winter isn’t letting go just yet. Stay updated on changing conditions and prepare for fire risks and snow in the days ahead.
