Denver, CO – A Red Flag Warning is in effect for parts of eastern and northeastern Colorado from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday due to critical fire weather conditions. Officials warn that dry vegetation, gusty winds, and low humidity will create a heightened wildfire risk.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver/Boulder, wind gusts are expected to reach 25-35 mph, with relative humidity dropping as low as 5-15%. The affected areas include portions of the eastern plains, where conditions are favorable for rapid fire spread.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, including campfires, debris burning, and any activities that could generate sparks. The combination of strong winds and dry air increases the likelihood of wildfires starting and spreading quickly.

Authorities recommend securing loose outdoor objects and staying updated on local fire restrictions. If a fire starts, officials warn it could become uncontrollable in a matter of minutes.
