Grand Junction, Colorado – Fire danger remains critical across northern and central Colorado valleys Tuesday as Red Flag Warnings remain in effect amid gusty southwest winds and dangerously low humidity. Gusts reaching 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 7% have prompted urgent alerts across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, the warning zone stretches from the Book Cliffs through the Central Divide, affecting cities including Grand Junction, Rifle, Meeker, and Vail. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected along the southern and central high terrain through late Tuesday, but most areas will see little to no rainfall. The storms may bring gusty winds and lightning, further complicating fire containment.

Drivers along I-70 and Highways 50 and 285 should be alert for sudden wind shifts and poor visibility due to blowing dust. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents are urged to secure loose items and avoid any spark-generating activity.

The dry and breezy pattern is expected to persist through early Wednesday, with the fire risk peaking Tuesday evening. Additional advisories may follow if moisture fails to increase.
