Cheyenne, Wyoming – Severe thunderstorms could slam parts of Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and South Dakota through 9 p.m. Saturday, bringing two-inch hail, 70 mph wind gusts, and frequent lightning to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for areas including Cheyenne, Gillette, Douglas, Fort Collins, Sidney, and Scottsbluff. Over 650,000 people and more than 300 schools could be impacted.

Communities in southeastern Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle may see rapid storm development this afternoon. Cheyenne, Douglas, and Wheatland are especially vulnerable to strong wind damage along I-25. In northeastern Colorado, areas from Fort Morgan to Longmont are under threat, with potential power outages and tree damage from gusty winds.

Motorists along I-80 and I-90 should prepare for reduced visibility and possible road debris. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid travel during peak storm hours, and have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts.

Storm conditions may ease late Saturday, but additional warnings could be issued if storms redevelop overnight.
