Denver, Colorado – Snow continues to impact travel across Colorado’s mountains and Front Range foothills into Friday morning, Jan. 9, with multiple Winter Weather Advisories remaining in effect through late morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, advisories continue until 11 a.m. MST Friday, Jan. 9, for high-elevation areas above 9,000 feet across Jackson, Grand, Boulder, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Summit, and Park counties. Additional snowfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected in areas including Rabbit Ears Pass, Berthoud Pass, Cameron Pass, Rocky Mountain National Park, the Indian Peaks, the Mosquito Range, and Summit County mountain passes.

Along the Southern Front Range foothills, including Evergreen, Idaho Springs, Bailey, Georgetown, Central City, and Westcreek, snowfall totals of 3 to 7 inches are possible through late Friday morning, Jan. 9, creating difficult travel conditions on mountain roads.

In Elbert and Douglas counties above 6,000 feet, including Castle Rock, Larkspur, Kiowa, and Elbert, snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches combined with wind gusts up to 40 mph may further reduce visibility and road traction.

Additional advisories are in effect from midnight overnight into 11 a.m. MST Friday, Jan. 9, for southern Lincoln County and southeast Elbert County below 6,000 feet, where 2 to 6 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 45 mph are expected.

The National Weather Service warns that road conditions may remain hazardous through the Friday morning commute, Jan. 9, particularly across mountain passes and foothill communities. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
