Grand Junction, CO – Residents across western Colorado and eastern Utah can expect a cool and unsettled Tuesday, with showers and thunderstorms persisting through the afternoon before drier conditions arrive midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, scattered storms are forecast to continue across the northern and central mountains, tapering off from west to east late this afternoon into the evening. Gusty winds, lightning, small hail, and brief periods of heavy rain are all possible.

Temperatures will trend cooler than average, with highs ranging from the upper 40s in mountain towns like Vail and Aspen to the low 70s in Grand Junction and Montrose. Areas in southern Utah will remain near normal, while northern regions may see readings 10 to 15 degrees below seasonal averages.

Forecasters say drier weather is expected to settle in Wednesday and Thursday, bringing a brief break from the rain. However, another round of moisture is expected to move in from the southwest starting Friday and continuing into the weekend, which could once again impact travel and outdoor plans.
