Pueblo, Colorado – Widespread thunderstorms and below-seasonal temperatures will settle across southern Colorado through Saturday, with the heaviest impacts expected in mountain communities and high valleys.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a surge in monsoonal moisture will bring a 40% to 70% daily chance of thunderstorms across the region. Mountain areas like Leadville and Alamosa could see highs only in the 60s and low 70s with storm chances peaking Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, the southeastern plains—from La Junta to Lamar—will stay warmer but still face scattered showers and isolated storms each afternoon.

Daytime highs will hover in the upper 70s to mid-80s across the lower elevations, with overnight lows dipping into the 50s. Roads could become slick during afternoon downpours, and localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas. Residents in the mountains should prepare for rapid weather changes and avoid high elevations during lightning activity.

The unsettled pattern will ease slightly by Saturday, but isolated storms may persist. Officials urge residents to monitor forecasts and avoid outdoor activities during peak storm hours, typically between 2 and 8 p.m.

⚠️ More advisories may be issued later this week as moisture levels remain elevated.
