Denver, CO – Snow is making an early return to Colorado’s Front Range mountains this weekend, bringing the first notable accumulation of the season above 8,000 feet.
According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, rain and snow showers are expected to develop late Sunday afternoon and continue overnight into Monday morning. The heaviest precipitation will occur near and west of I-25, with the greatest concentration in the Front Range mountain zones.
Forecasters say snow levels will start near 10,000 feet Sunday afternoon before dropping to 8,000–8,500 feet overnight, potentially leading to slick conditions over high-elevation roads including Trail Ridge Road and Cameron Pass.
While most areas are expected to see less than two inches of snow, conditions may vary rapidly due to changing temperatures and elevation. Outdoor enthusiasts and travelers are advised to check updated road reports at cotrip.org before heading into the mountains.
The storm system is forecast to end by Monday morning, followed by cooler, drier weather across northern Colorado.
