Fort Collins, CO – A Colorado man is facing multiple charges after allegedly catfishing transgender victims on a dating app, then trapping them in his vehicle during meetups. Deputies say the suspect was arrested on August 31, 2025, and booked on a $25,000 bond.
According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 hang-up near Douglas Reservoir in Fort Collins, where they encountered 33-year-old Anthony Brown-Wright exiting a white GMC Yukon with another adult. Investigators say the victim had arranged to meet Brown-Wright through a dating app but realized he misrepresented his identity. Brown-Wright allegedly prevented the victim from leaving and disconnected their 911 call.
Deputies later linked the case to a similar August incident at Simpson Ponds in unincorporated Larimer County, where another transgender victim reported being trapped in Brown-Wright’s vehicle. In that case, deputies say the suspect threatened legal action before demanding sexual acts.
Brown-Wright now faces charges including criminal extortion, false imprisonment, third-degree assault, obstruction of phone service, trespassing with intent to commit a crime, and petty theft.
Sheriff John Feyen urged others who may have experienced similar encounters to come forward, stressing that deputies are still working to determine if transgender victims were specifically targeted. Anyone with information can contact Deputy Megan Job at 970-577-2085 or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868.
“Consent is always necessary, whether you’re in a committed relationship or a casual meetup,” Feyen said. “We’re not here to judge — we’re here to support you and keep our community safe.”
