Pueblo, Colorado – Comfortable summer weather will cap off the holiday weekend across Colorado, but isolated mountain storms could disrupt outdoor plans through Labor Day. Highs in the 70s and 80s will dominate Sunday, climbing slightly higher by Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, scattered thunderstorms are expected both days, especially in the higher elevations of southern Colorado. The best chance for storm activity is over the southern Sangre de Cristo Range and the eastern San Juan Mountains, where brief downpours, lightning, and gusty winds are possible during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Most lower-elevation cities including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and La Junta will remain dry and warm, making for ideal travel and barbecue conditions. However, those heading into the mountains for hiking or camping should be prepared for quick-changing conditions. Keep devices charged, avoid exposed ridgelines during storms, and check updated alerts if venturing into backcountry areas.

Storm chances taper off late Monday evening, but a shift in weather patterns could bring more widespread activity midweek.
