Goodland, KS – Dense fog is blanketing parts of northwest Kansas and eastern Colorado, creating hazardous travel conditions expected to last through midday Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Goodland, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. MDT (noon CDT) Saturday for Cheyenne, Sherman, Wallace, and Greeley counties in Kansas, as well as Yuma, Kit Carson, and Cheyenne counties in Colorado. Visibility is expected to drop to as low as one-quarter mile in affected areas.

Travelers along Interstate 70 between Stratton and the Kit Carson/Lincoln County line should prepare for slick conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses. The NWS also noted that western portions of Kit Carson and Yuma counties may experience freezing fog or drizzle, leading to icy patches on roadways and sidewalks.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles. Pedestrians should take caution on slippery steps, porches, and driveways.

This advisory follows seasonal patterns but poses serious short-term risks. Commuters and commercial drivers should consider delaying travel or seeking alternate routes until visibility improves after midday Saturday.
