Goodland, KS – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of western Kansas and eastern Colorado from Tuesday night until Wednesday afternoon, bringing strong winds and light snow.
According to the National Weather Service in Goodland, the advisory is in place from 9 p.m. MDT (10 p.m. CDT) Tuesday to noon MDT (1 p.m. CDT) Wednesday. Expected snowfall may reach up to one inch, but wind gusts as high as 70 mph will create hazardous conditions, including blowing snow and reduced visibility.
The affected areas include Cheyenne County in Colorado and Greeley, Wallace, and Wichita counties in Kansas. Forecasters warn that roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick. Drivers on Interstate 70 should prepare for delays and dangerous travel conditions.
Power outages and tree damage are also possible due to the high winds. Residents are urged to delay travel if possible and use caution if driving is necessary. For real-time road updates, officials recommend calling 511 in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado.
