Denver, CO – A High Wind Warning remains in effect for parts of northeast Colorado until noon MDT Wednesday, with wind gusts expected to reach up to 65 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver, affected areas include Limon, Akron, Julesburg, Holyoke, and surrounding regions. Winds from the north will sustain speeds between 30 to 45 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions and potential power outages.

Officials warn that the strong winds will blow around unsecured objects and reduce visibility due to blowing dust, especially in rural areas. Visibility could drop to less than a quarter mile in some locations, creating dangerous conditions for drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles.

The strongest gusts, reaching up to 65 mph, are expected in Southeast Elbert County and South Lincoln County, where residents should prepare for possible downed power lines and difficult travel conditions.

Residents are advised to secure loose objects, use extra caution while driving, and prepare for potential power outages. The warning remains in effect until Wednesday at noon, after which winds are expected to gradually subside.
