Denver, CO – Strong winds with gusts up to 75 mph are expected across portions of the northern foothills and mountains through Sunday evening. Residents near the I-70 corridor and Wyoming border should prepare for hazardous driving conditions and potential power disruptions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 p.m. Sunday. Winds will be strongest north of I-70, with gusts reaching 75 mph in foothill areas and 55 to 60 mph on the plains near the Wyoming border. Light snow may accumulate in the mountains later in the day, producing localized slick road conditions.

Drivers on I-70 and nearby routes should remain cautious, as high winds may lead to blowing snow and poor visibility, especially in elevated areas. Loose outdoor items, including decorations and trash bins, should be secured to prevent damage.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring calmer conditions with sunny skies and highs near 52°F in Denver. Winds will gradually diminish, and overnight lows are expected to drop to the mid-20s. By Tuesday, a weak storm system could produce light snow in northern Colorado, though accumulations will be minimal.

For the remainder of the week, forecasters predict a warming trend, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s by Thursday and Friday. Calm winds and mostly sunny skies will make for ideal weather through midweek.

Residents should remain updated on weather conditions, especially for travel along I-70 and northern corridors. For the latest alerts, visit the NWS website or local forecast offices.
