Grand Junction, Colo. – Sunshine and seasonable conditions will dominate much of western Colorado today, with only a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms over the higher terrain. Drivers and hikers in the mountains may encounter brief showers, but widespread storms are unlikely.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, drier air moving across the region will cut down thunderstorm activity, keeping storm chances at just 15 to 20 percent in the Colorado High Country and the Uintas of northern Utah. Most lower elevations will see sunny skies and comfortable daytime temperatures.
Communities along the I-70 corridor, including Rifle, Glenwood Springs, and Vail, should expect smooth travel conditions with only isolated mountain showers possible late in the day. Outdoor activities across the Western Slope will benefit from the calmer pattern, though residents in higher elevations should remain alert to sudden downpours.
The dry stretch is expected to hold through much of the week, giving the region a break from recent thunderstorm activity. More detailed updates will follow if rain chances increase.
