Pueblo, Colorado – Southeastern Colorado faces dangerously high temperatures through Sunday, with some areas expected to hit 106 degrees Fahrenheit. Residents in El Paso, Pueblo, and Eastern Fremont Counties should take precautions as temperatures are forecast to remain 10-12 degrees above normal.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Pueblo Colorado, a Heat Advisory is in effect for the region until 9 p.m. Sunday. Highs in Pueblo are expected to reach 105°F on Friday and 103°F on Saturday. Cities like La Junta and Lamar could see temperatures as high as 106°F and 103°F, respectively, on Friday.

This prolonged heat poses a significant risk for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Community members should limit time outdoors, stay hydrated, and check on elderly neighbors or those without air conditioning. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, even for short periods. Cooling centers may be available; residents should check local government websites for information.

The extended period of extreme heat warrants continued vigilance. Further advisories may be issued if conditions worsen. Warnings remain in effect through Sunday evening, with slightly cooler, but still hot, temperatures expected early next week.
