Pueblo, Colorado – Extreme heat is gripping southern Colorado again Thursday, with temperatures pushing into the low 100s and heat advisories in effect for a second straight day across Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Cañon City, and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, heat advisories remain active from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and again on Friday for much of El Paso, Pueblo, and Fremont counties. Afternoon highs of 95 to 104°F, especially in lower elevations, combined with dry winds and minimal cloud cover, create a serious risk of heat illness and fire danger. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activities during peak heat, drink water frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

In Colorado Springs, haze and sun will drive the high near 99°F Thursday before giving way to isolated thunderstorms Friday afternoon. Pueblo may see temperatures top out above 100°F both days. Fire weather conditions are also elevated across Fremont County, where gusty winds and low humidity have prompted red flag warnings. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

Slight relief is expected by Saturday evening as scattered storms and a weak cold front push into the region.
