Denver, Colorado – Much of eastern Colorado will bake under dangerous heat Friday and Saturday, with temperatures topping 100°F from Denver to Sterling and parts of the eastern plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday across the I-25 Urban Corridor and surrounding plains. Cities including Fort Collins, Greeley, Boulder, Aurora, and Limon may see peak temperatures between 100°F and 104°F, especially during the afternoon hours.

The hottest zones include northeast Weld, Logan, Washington, and Phillips counties, where prolonged exposure may trigger heat-related illnesses. Denver International Airport and adjacent metro areas will also face elevated heat risks during the peak of the day. Emergency managers urge residents to avoid outdoor work during midday, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Cooling centers in metro areas are expected to open Friday morning. Health officials recommend wearing light-colored clothing, limiting strenuous activity to early morning or evening, and never leaving pets or children in parked vehicles.

This early summer heatwave marks one of the hottest starts to the season since 2012, especially for eastern Colorado’s plains.

Heat advisories may extend into Sunday if temperatures remain above 100°F. Stay tuned to local updates.
