Pueblo, Colorado – Southern Colorado is baking under triple-digit heat today, with temperatures topping 104°F in parts of the region and a Heat Advisory in effect for the I-25 corridor through 8 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, areas including Pueblo, Lamar, La Junta, and Trinidad are expected to see highs between 101°F and 104°F today. The advisory covers much of southern and southeastern Colorado, including Colorado Springs and Walsenburg, where well-above-normal temperatures are expected to persist through the evening.
Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, especially between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., when the risk of heat-related illness is highest. The NWS recommends drinking water frequently, wearing light-colored, breathable clothing, and taking breaks in the shade or air conditioning when possible.
On the roads, U.S. Highway 50 and the I-25 corridor are especially impacted. Road crews and travelers are advised to prepare for prolonged heat exposure.
This marks one of the hottest days of the summer so far for the region, with some towns seeing temperatures not felt since the record heatwave of July 2022.
Warnings remain in effect through Wednesday evening. Additional heat advisories could be issued later this week if conditions persist.
