Pueblo, CO – Residents across the San Luis Valley are under a Frost Advisory through Thursday morning, with overnight temperatures expected to drop near freezing for two consecutive nights.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the advisory includes the cities of Alamosa, Monte Vista, Del Norte, La Jara, Center, Sanford, Antonito, Manassa, San Luis, Blanca, and Fort Garland.
Forecasters said low temperatures between 32 and 35 degrees are expected early Wednesday and Thursday mornings, with a few spots dipping to 30 degrees. The cold conditions will lead to widespread frost formation.
Officials warn the frost could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation. Residents are encouraged to cover plants, bring in potted flowers, and protect gardens from the overnight chill.
The first advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. MDT Wednesday, while the second runs from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. MDT Thursday.
This marks the first extended cold snap of the season for southern Colorado’s high valleys, signaling the shift into autumn conditions.
