Pueblo, CO – A sharp drop in temperatures is expected across much of southern and eastern Colorado tonight, with a Freeze Warning in effect for several counties through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.
The warning covers areas including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Walsenburg, Trinidad, La Junta, Lamar, and Eads, where overnight lows may fall to around 25°F. The alert remains in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday.
Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive plants, damage crops, and freeze unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover vegetation, disconnect garden hoses, and insulate exposed pipes before temperatures drop overnight.
The cold front marks one of the first widespread freezes of the season across the southeastern plains, signaling the start of more seasonable late-October conditions. Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly by Sunday afternoon, with clearer skies and lighter winds.
